We love this family owned and operated restaurant. They have the best coleslaw, the fried catfish comes with and without bones, I enjoy their dinner salad and it must be prepped the kitchen as it one of the few salads I can eat without stomach upset like packaged lettuce. Hashbrowns are homemade too. They also serve gator and turtle that is flavorful and if you like frog legs you will be in heaven.
To me, the Catfish Place is Florida. My dad brought my brother and I here to eat all the time in the late 70s and early 80s. The food is just as delicious as I remember when I was a preteen. The wait staff are really friendly, conversational if you wish, and quick. The kitchen has got it together, hot fried food is quick, delicious, and leaves your mouth watering for more. I'll be back sooner than later!!
Wide selections of great comfort food, very reasonable prices, Felt like a large family gathering anticipating great food and no one acting up. Welcoming environment Courteous Personal table service. We will be back. 4 star only because of the wait, but truly well worth it.
Ordered steak, frog legs, fried chicken and steamed shrimp. Sides included were hush puppies, cole slaw and sweet potato. I ordered my steak medium and it was WELL done and this is after I had originally ordered the T-bone which they were out of. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was under seasoned even the batters. The only thing that is decent was the hush puppies. I could have cooked it better myself. Extremely slow service. Sadly not impressed. Will not be revisiting.
I stopped here while on vacation to get away from the tourist and chain places. The parking lot had pickup trucks with Jon boats in their beds, inside the restaurant was filled with obese people and the menu listed mostly fried items. --- You just know it's going to be good! And it was, fresh fried gator and turtle. Perfect shrimp and really good cheese grits!
